THE ISLAND OF EIVISSA

“I was in harmony with the world for the first time”

– Barbet Schroeder, upon arriving in Ibiza.

Ibiza’s first settlers the Phoenicians named the island after Bes, their God of Music and dance who was believed to ward off evil spirits. Since then this island of rich red soil, pine forests, natural salt flats and idyllic bays has captured the imagination of travellers, revellers, artists, writers, free thinkers and lovers of nature from all corners of the globe.

At 33km across it’s widest point the island has breathtaking scenery underwater as upon land. There are a great many bays and dive sites for freediving. Caves, wrecks, swim throughs, turquoise bays and deep water are all accessible and never far from home. Water temperatures go from 20 degrees in April to 29 in the height of summer, and freediving can be practiced from Spring right through to the end of the year.

Whilst being world famous for its name as the hottest clubbing destination, there are many sides to Ibiza life and the scenery, the food and simpler side of island life is now playing an equally large part in attracting visitors.
